Maui, Hawaii – October 8, 2002 – MauiGames, a video game developer focused on leveraging artists, gaming technologists, and
programming talent from Hawaii and around the world, and TEAM Unlimited, producers of XTERRA events, the world’s fastest-growing
off-road multisport races, today announced an exclusive agreement in which MauiGames will develop games based on the popular XTERRA brand.
Inspired by the excitement and thrill of the popular XTERRA races, MauiGames will develop new games and as a result, new events will
be developed. Some of those events from the Xterra MauiGames video game series will become a new sports competition representing
the first time a video game will have been transformed into a real event.
“As the creator and producer of the world’s most popular off-road multisport racing series, now televised worldwide, we have captured the
attention of a loyal and enthusiastic global demographic,” said Tom Kiely, President, Team Unlimited. “We are committed to MauiGames
and its association with the XTERRA brand and to marketing video games and event packages with the same passion and commitment
that we have devoted to making our XTERRA brand a success,” said Kiely.
“MauiGames will bring the exhilaration of Xterra style off-road racing to video games,” said David Fradin, President of MauiGames LLC.
“It is a rare opportunity for a game developer to license a brand name especially one of this quality that is rapidly growing in worldwide
popularity,” said Fradin.
